Check presented to students from La Farge Lions Club

On Wednesday, October 2, La Farge Lions Club member Dave West presented a check in support of the Elementary After School Club. Accepting the check were a number of after school club participants, who greeted Mr. West with smiles of thanks.

La Farge Schools is grateful to the La Farge Lions Club for its generous donation! Thank you to the Club and its members for being champions for our community's young people. The Lions Club's support allows for a reduced enrollment rate for families who could benefit from financial assistance.

The after school club was started this year to respond to a need for after school care for young children. The program serves students in 4K through 5th grade, and is taught by Mrs. Dawn Thiege-Parr, an experienced child care and after-school program teacher. Enrolled students receive a snack, outdoor time, and participate in enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, service learning, and community field trips. This week the group is engaged in a Kindness Challenge.

Families who are interested in enrolling their students should contact Elementary Principal Josh Hansen at 625-0155 or hansenj@lafarge.k12.wi.us.
Community groups or individuals who would be interested in partnering with the after-school club to volunteer, present about a topic of interest, or coordinate a service learning opportunity can contact Mrs. Thiege-Parr at 625-0159 or thiegeparrd@lafarge.k12.wi.us.
