It is back to school season already, and everyone at La Farge Schools is ready to welcome our Wildcats for the 2019-2020 school year! Though the building has been quieter over the past few months, work to prepare for the school year is well underway. As this letter is being written, renovations are in progress, floors are shiny with fresh wax, and boxes of new supplies and textbooks are being delivered daily. Throughout the summer, teachers and staff have learned new curriculum, developed new programs and policies, written grants, and analyzed data… all to better serve our students, families, and community.
The district’s administrative team has a new roster, but with familiar names. Elementary Principal Josh Hansen, MS/HS Principal and Athletic Director Todd Camlek, and Superintendent Meaghan Gustafson are each district residents, parents of La Farge Schools students, and came to administration after many years spent as teachers in La Farge Schools.
Together, we’ve been spending time reflecting on the past year and planning for the future. Some of the areas of focus for this coming year include technology integration, growing literacy achievement, building capacity for supporting the mental health and social-emotional needs of our students, andfamily and community engagement.
With over 25 years at La Farge Schools, our new Facilities Manager John Madden and his team have worked diligently over the summer to make improvements and repairs in our buildings to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for our students.
Several of our teachers have moved to new positions within La Farge Schools:
- Lauren Curtis is moving from elementary music to full time Title I Intervention and Support
- Megan Dittner is looping with her class from 3rd to 4th grade
- Jenny Grainger is moving from 4th grade to 1st grade
As we look forward to this year, we also have several new staff members to welcome to the district.

- Rosa Rose, 5th Grade Teacher
- Sarah Keenan, Elementary Special Education/SAGE Teacher
- Kristine Da Prato, Family and Consumer Science Teacher
- Deb Michaels, Elementary Music Teacher
- Luke Liles, Nighttime Custodian

On behalf of the entire La Farge Schools staff, all students, families and community members are invited to a Back to School Tailgate Party and Open House from 4:30 - 6:00pm on Wednesday, August 28. Please join us for a meal, to greet new and returning staff members, and walk through the schools to see recent improvements and hear about plans for the future.
We look forward to seeing you!
