A big Wildcat thank you to Vernon County ADRC and Climb Theater for presenting the play, "Grandpa and Lucy" to our elementary students. The students really enjoyed the interactive presentation and learned about how we can care for family members who have dementia.

Students in Transportation and Energy have been working hard designing and building a bike generator. The purpose of the project is to learn about electricity and how it's generated and produced. This week the group reached some major milestones where they actually got the bike running and produced power to energize a few devices. The students thought it was pretty cool when they connected the bike to the 18 volt milwaukee shop radio and got it to work only while pedaling, when they stopped pedaling the radio stopped working. They have also been very surprised at the amount of work it takes to generate electricity. They have attempted to run a cordless drill, but their legs aren't quite strong enough to energize a tool that requires that much power. The class's future goal is to purchase a 12v blender and set the bike up for students to make their own smoothies with some pedal power!

Creative play in 4K! "Jail the Mice," is a game where 4K can use their imagination and color coordination. The 4K students enjoyed using their skills to chase the running "mice" as they scampered under the curtain into the court. Then once caught, the mice patrol were able to put each mouse in their team's colored hula hoop. This kept the students scampering and squealing, in hopes of playing one more round of catching those pesky mice this time of year!

If you missed out on selecting a student last week there is still time to support additional students. The additional slots will benefit students at the school throughout the school year. Rockton Bar also has a few names left on their tree if you would like additional options. If you have any questions, let Heidi Rastall know at rastallh@lafarge.k12.wi.us. Thank you for supporting our students and families! All gifts need to be returned to the school by Friday, December 16th. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D45A4AB2BAAF9C16-virtual2
