Last Thursday several elementary, middle and high school classes helped the Ag Processing class make apple cider. Apples were donated by Oakwood Fruit Farms and students learned how to grind, and squeeze the apples using a bladder press. After all the hard work the students were able to enjoy a fresh cup of apple cider.

The elementary students have been busy in Mrs. Michaels' music classes.
The Fifth Graders have been practicing songs on their recorders so that they can earn permission to take them home for practice. Our goal; make music, not noise!
The First Graders have been practicing moving instruments from their places on the shelves to their places on the floor so they can play them. The new music space makes these routines so much easier!
The Kindergarten, Second Grade, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade classes have been practicing some fun fall songs! Click on the link below to watch videos of each class.

Spanish 2 students just finished a food and restaurant unit and had the chance to try out their skills firsthand with a lunch date at Pacifico. They ordered their meals completely in Spanish and interacted with the waiter, who was thrilled to practice español with us! What a fun way to put language skills to use in real life outside the classroom!

5th grade practiced forming a hypothesis, testing it, and making observations with mold terrariums. These kinds of activities are important because they give students the opportunity to be engaged through hands-on experiences.

There's still time to get you tickets for the chicken-q. Tickets are still available in the office until Friday. The Chicken-Q will be set up weather permitting in front of the school entrance on Sunday from 2:30 pm to 4 pm otherwise inside the entrance. Come support this wonderful cause.

The middle and high school music students have been working so hard this quarter getting back into the swing of a "normal" band room. We've been discussing being proud of yourself and pushing your limits. The concert last night demonstrated the growth and development of the middle and high school musicians. Congratulations on a great performance!

Concert Day!!!🎶🎷🎼. Reminder for all 6-12th grade music students, please get to school by 6:30 pm and wear your purple music shirts and black pants, shorts, skirts or capris. Concert start time is 7:00 pm.

1. Physical science students calculated the density of the carbon dioxide gas given off during an experiment. They did this using measurements they made in the lab.
2. Biology students modeled the properties of a cell membrane.
3-4. Chemistry students have been doing many calculations using a unit called the mole (6.02 x 10^23.) It is a counting number used for very small things like atoms and molecules. We celebrated Mole Day (on 10/23) with element posters and food!

This week the fourth grade class is starting a research project. The students will be researching the life cycle of a living creature of their choice. They will then draw the life cycle and write a summary of its stages. This activity allows students a chance to practice finding online resources while also turning the relevant information into organized writing.

Rehearsing with the Screaming Eagles Marching Band at UWL for High School Band Day. Performance at the UWL Football game this afternoon!!!🎶🏈

The Geometry class is starting to learn about writing proofs. For an introduction to proofs, the class completed an activity using UNO cards to explain the steps to get from the starting card to the end card. The students had to figure out the correct pattern with the cards and then give a reason for each card change. This is a great introduction of proofs in a hands-on way for the students to develop the skills on providing reasons for each step they are taking. Each group of students were given a different set of cards and had to work together to find the pattern and give reasons.
